Maxine Sharf, the creator behind @maxiskitchen is putting her signature no-stress cooking into book form with Maxi’s Kitchen: Easy Go-To Recipes to Make Again and Again. Maxine started sharing recipes in 2022 after a layoff from her tech sales career that was the nudge she needed to cook full time. She’s since built a massive community by blending her Korean, Chinese, Romanian, Russian, and Polish heritage with a California ease that makes everything feel doable. In the meantime, she walked us through a day in her life as she’s anticipating the launch of her cookbook, out on March 3rd next month.
Breaking Down With Maxine Sharf
“Matcha and a journaling session after walking Kimchi, a quick workout, and meditation. Journaling is how I ground myself in the morning and get my creativity flowing before the day really starts. ”

“After getting ready for the day, I edit a video and record the voiceover from my bedroom. Kimchi is, as always, right there with me, posted up on the bed during every recording session. ”

“Lunch break. Today it’s jammy eggs with lemon garlic yogurt from my upcoming cookbook, Maxi’s Kitchen. Simple, nourishing, and one of those meals I come back to again and again. ”
— 12PM
“Time to start shooting recipes. My mom’s in town helping me cook since things are especially busy leading up to the cookbook launch. We’re filming the Benihana chicken fried rice from the book, plus three other dishes. And yes, my kitchen is way messier than it looks on camera. ”
— 2PM
“Evening walk with Doug and Kimchi around the neighborhood. We always try to time it with sunset, which feels like the perfect reset after a long filming day. ”
— 5:30PM
“Dinner out at Mother Wolf. Incredible food and a beautiful, lively atmosphere. Always fun to get out of the house after a full day of filming, especially when my mom’s in town. ”
